JBB’s Final Thoughts S03E01: What Do People Really Mean When They Say…

Season 3 Episode 1: What Do People Really Mean When They Say…

Almost a whole year has gone by since my last podcast. Why does that sound like the beginning of a Catholic confession? I’ll be sharing plans for the blog and podcast and maybe even coming up with a more consistent schedule. Also, video comments from friends and AIs about this month’s theme: “What Do People Really Mean When They Say…”

Please subscribe to my podcast via my YouTube channel, iTunes or even via Email. Also, check out my sponsor using the following link to get a free-audio book and free 30-day subscription: http://audibletrial.com/jbbsfinalthoughts. Thanks.

JBB’s Final Thoughts, season 3 episode 1: What Do People Really Mean When They Say…

Joe Bustillos, here. Yeah, season two, that was fun. No, you didn’t miss any episodes ’cause there weren’t any (except for the first one). I spent the last six months reevaluating the podcast, the blog, life… Actually the first three-months since my last podcast was spent being exhausted from having the amazing experience of working 50- to 60-hour weeks with some wonderful kids and a great team. After that I was busy selling my place and trying to figure out the next chapter. Story still ongoing. Blah, blah, blah..

About the blog and podcast, couple of months ago I decided that I wanted to return to theme based posts in my blog. I did this briefly several years ago, but stopped when I got sick. So the plan is to post three or more articles and a related podcast all at once, centered around a theme, magazine-style on a monthly schedule (just like a magazine!). It’s an experiment, we’ll see if it works out. But before we talk about this month’s theme, let me remind you that I have a sponsor.

Today’s sponsor is Audible.com®. Audible is offering our listeners a free audiobook of your choice and a free 30-day trial membership. Just go to audibletrial.com/jbbsfinalthoughts and choose from over 180,000 audio programs – download a title free and start listening. It’s that easy. I’m a big fan and just finished listening to the first two books of the Sci-Fi trilogy “The Three-Body Problem” by Cixin Liu (Lee Oh – Tsi Sheen) (pronunciation guide courtesy http://www.amazon.com/gp/forum/cd/discussion.html?ie=UTF8&cdForum=Fx25SJ0LDY8EJHE&cdThread=Tx3U8W05OLV2Z51).

Banished after watching her father killed during the chaos of the Chinese Cultural Revolution (circa 1968), a scientist discovers the real purpose behind a top-secret listening-post. Flash forward forty years and numerous academics and scientist are committing suicide, while one mathematician who got caught up in the investigation also explores an online game called “Three Body.” The game centers around various historical figures trying to survive in a world with catastrophically unpredictable seasons/weather patterns, such that whole civilizations are destroyed when the world plunges into freezing darkness or fiery inferno.

To get your own copy of “The Three-Body Problem” or any of Audible’s many title go to audible trial dot com slash jbbsfinalthoughts – that’s audible trial dot com slash jbbsfinalthoughts and get started today. Thanks to Audible for supporting podcasting and this program.

JBB’s Final Thoughts, S03E01: What Do People Really Mean When They Say…

The theme for this month is, “What Do People Really Mean When They Say…” I saw a handwritten sign by the road advocating a particular religious position and that got me thinking (always a dangerous notion). I also wrote two additional articles: “What Do People Really Mean When They Say ‘Children Are Our Future,'” and “What Do People Really Mean When They Say ‘Everything Happens for a Reason.”

For this podcast I thought it would be much more interesting to have others comment on the theme than hear me blather on about this and that. So I cajoled several of my co-workers and a few others to lend their thoughts to the theme, “What Do People Really Mean When They Say…”

Sincere Thanks to Adam, Jose and Natalie for trusting me with your comments and to a few AI friends for also contributing. I had planned to include comments from Microsoft’s Tay AI but it was pulled offline within 24-hours of its introduction for failing to recognize the danger of repeating stupid things trolls say on the Internet. Reminds me of the time many years ago when Microsoft unveiled a new voice recognition system and in their huge public presentation when they told the AI to “Recognize Speech” it put the following words on-screen: “Wreck A Nice Beach.” Love it.

One final note about the podcast and blog, I’m re-branding my blog as “JBB’s Final Thoughts” and will be using that URL: http://jbbsfinalthoughts.com as the main hub. All other URLs such as joebustillos.com, will be redirected to the jbbsfinalthoughts.com URL. Also, if you would like to contribute a thought or an article to this fine online endeavor you can contact me at joe@bustillos.com, through the blog or through my Facebook account.

This communication experiment is ongoing. Hope to communication with y’all along the way. Enjoy.
